Getting married in the Unitarian Church
The Unitarian Church on St. Stephen’s Green has been open for worship since 1863. It is a non-creedal church and welcomes all who wish to worship in a spirit of freedom, reason and tolerance. We do not have a test of beliefs or faith, nor any ceremony of admittance.
Those wishing to be married in the Unitarian Church should contact the Minister or lay preacher after a Sunday service (11am) as a first contact. At this point, we can talk to you about the Unitarian wedding service in terms of content and structure, answer any questions you might have and check the diary for availability. We will provide a copy of the marriage service and other useful reading material.
A booklet has been compiled to help prepare your wedding at the Unitarian Church. It contains an outline of the legal requirements, a specimen service, suggestions for readings, a brief history of the Dublin church, an introduction to Unitarianism, answers to some frequently asked questions, a checklist of things to do and some useful phone numbers and email addresses.
Prior to marriage equality, the Church offered services of blessing for couples of the same sex and we are delighted that Ireland has legislated for marriage equality.
All weddings are held in the Dublin Unitarian Church. Only in exceptional circumstances do we travel to outside venues.
The fee for a wedding is €850. The fee does not include flowers or music.
